A small not for profit organisation working with the community to improve the lives of the people in Acharacle and surrounding district
Welcome to our website!
Have a look through the pages to see what is going on and maybe come to see us at the Community Centre in Acharacle. The centre is now open from 11 till 3pm Monday to Friday. The map at the bottom of the page shows you where the Community Centre & office are.
Very exciting news breaking that the Company is to become the proud owner of three E-bikes kindly donated from Hi-Trans. They are to be loaned out to any member of the community (over the age of 16) who would like to try them out. Maybe you have been considering getting an e-bike for those short journeys to reduce your car use but are not sure about buying one. Well, here’s your chance to have a go and see what they’re like!
One will be a mountain bike type and the other two are more commuting / shopping types. We are hoping to get some accessories such as panniers, helmets, pumps, repair kits etc to loan out too, but need to secure grant funding for these first. This is in progress now!
We are also looking for a couple of volunteers to help do basic maintenance between ‘hires’ to ensure the bikes are in tip top condition. If you’re not sure whether you know enough to help, we are also going to run workshops to cover basic maintenance and repairs. These will be run by Richard from Lochaber Environmental Group.
Let us know if you are interested in any of the courses (no dates yet) or helping with maintaining the bikes.
The Community Centre is now a recycling point for ink cartridges and biscuit wrappers!
Every year, countless pieces of Cracker, Biscuit and Cake Wrappers end up in landfills across the UK. We are working with TerraCycle® to put an end to this enormous loss of resources.
Every time you enjoy any biscuit, cracker or cake, save the packaging and drop it off at the Community Centre.
ANY BRAND OF WRAPPER! Please send only flexible plastic packaging and not cardboard packaging. Cardboard can be recycled in your blue bin. The Pladis Biscuits and Snacks Recycling Programme allows us to recycle your wrappers and prevent them from ending up in landfill. Not only are you helping the environment, but the waste you recycle with us also help fund our activities.

A New Defibrillator is ready to be used in Acharacle! It is located on the wall by the entrance to Cafe Tioram. In case of an emergency, ring 999 and the ambulance staff will help you through the process. The cabinet is not locked. The Community Company are checking the defib regularly, but if you notice a problem please let us know.
