The Reuse Project was started in 2007 using grant funding from Voluntary Action Fund, but since 2011 the project has been run by volunteers. The project operates throughout Lochaber but mainly in the areas surrounding Acharacle.
We are always looking for items of furniture, material, books, tools, musical instruments, electrical goods, bikes and any other items that are in good condition and suitable for reuse. Acceptance of items is at the discretion of the volunteers.
If you have an item that is heavy and awkward or you do not have transport, please contact Lesley at the Acharacle Community Company office (01967 431411)
Please feel free to come and browse when the shed is open: Wednesdays 11.30 - 1.30pm Saturday 10 - 12 noon. The shed is next to 'Lerona' in Acharacle.
If possible, we'd like you to make a donation if you want to take anything. This helps with the costs of running the shed and the van.
Don’t forget, the project is run entirely by volunteers, so there may be limited times when collections can be made.
One of the project's volunteers successfully applied to the BIG Lottery fund Awards for All for grant funding towards a new van. Together with funding from the Highland Council Ward Discretionary Budget and the Community Company we were able to purchase a brand new Transit van for all the project's collections and deliveries.
The ribbon was cut by one of our customers on March 4th this year, with help from volunteers and members of Acharacle Primary School Eco Committee.
